Taekwondo, compared to other martial arts. is basically a sport more than a martial art. It is inferior in many ways, one of them being: compared to wing chun, which is kung fu, tkd bloacks an attack and then attacks back. In wing chun, you attack back while blocking. Another is that, at least on my level, mostly everything I've learnt so far is countered by just getting close and clinching. Since it is a kick, I need space to be able to chamber it and to actually kick. While I do learn self-defense at tkd, it's not strictly tkd.
Honestly, I started tkd to get into to the habit of going to some place with random people to do exercise and stuff. After getting black belt, I was going to quit and go do some other martial art, like jiu jitsu. I was gonna continue this for like 3 or 4 martial arts and then maybe stop.
I've learnt all the hiragana for Japanese, so we're actually starting to learn the language. While we still need to learn katakana, I think we'll learn that on the way like kanji and just start learning stuff now. We've just started on basic greetings and self-introduction, which isn't too hard for now.
