Software development

Had my first Software Development class today and I have to say, I like the class. I already really like programming so there was no doubt on the subject, but I wasn't so sure about the class. The smart-ass from IPT isn't doing SD, so the lesson gets along faster. Unlike the other classes so far, we actually got started on programming. Part of that is because there are a lot of people who are just starting out with programming and didn't do IST last year so they don't know anything and need to get the basics down. After a brief explanation of the course and that it's Software only, he got us started on a simple program, finding the average of six numbers. Very simple, but the point of it was to show that you need to tell it to do everything, such as displaying the average after calculating it. Right now, the class is around 15-20 people, but I'm sure that that is going to change very soon. The year 12 class used to have around 20 people, but now has 5. I'm...

Senior year benefits

After making sure that I'm not doing grade sport this year, I can now go home at 12pm on Thursdays. Even if I have to go swimming straight after for my physiotherapy exercise, I'm still quite happy to leave school early on one day. Actually, since it's summer and all, I don't mind going swimming once or twice a week. My subjects so far have been okay-ish, my mathematics class (advanced and extension) is fine, the teacher is fine, the workload is quite a bit but manageable, but the one thing I don't understand is that starting this year, mathematics will also have an assignment instead of a test for the first term. None of the students know how a maths assignment will work, some are curious, I'm dreading it, honestly. One of the things I like about maths is that I don't have to spend time at home doing assignments, but now that's gone. Thinking about it, the fact that we now have an assignment for maths might mean that I won't get first this year. ...

League of Legends -ranked

Season 2019 just started for league, and I'm still at silver 2. I usually just don't play ranked, because I play like ass in ranked. In normal games I just play as usual and actually do well, but when I play ranked, I get all nervous, hands get sweaty, heart rate spikes. It's probably because there's just more pressure, because losing and winning matter more than usual, and League is a game that really punishes any mistakes. For example, dying once to your opponent will put your opponent ahead of you, and it'll be hard for you to catch up, and if you die again it will get even harder. So there's a lot of pressure early on, and I don't really like that. In normal games I can just not care if I lose or not but in ranked I have a rank to lose and everything, and since it's ranked people start to try and be better, so it's harder than normal games. I think one of the ways to get this nervousness out of the way is to just keep playing ranked until it ...

Starting senior year

The new year starts and I soon start school again. The one thing I'm looking forward to are the subjects, since this time there isn't really anything that i don't wanna do, except for English. Everything else I picked freely and look forward to doing, unlike last year. The subjects I look forward to the most is SDD(Software Design/Development) and Japanese. I look forward to SDD because programming is actually quite fun, and because there isn't really a bad SSD teacher. I look forward to Japanese because the old and really bad teacher just up and disappeared and now we have a not-so-bad teacher, that'll actually teach us correct things. Both of these subjects I have some experience in, and make for a smooth transition into them, the only worrying thing are the classes. I'm sure for SDD it won't be so bad, but last year there were only a handful of people who tried in class, so who knows how well it'll go now, but I can say for sure that there are a l...

TaeKwonDo

I attend taekwondo twice a week, originally to do some light exercise, since i wasn't doing anything before. The instructors teach classes as a whole, so it's not much of a one on one thing. There's 3 main parts to taekwondo. The kicking, the pumsay, and self-defence. The kicking is about learning kicks, such as roundhouse kick, front kick, back kick, and can get complicated like the reverse spinning kick, also called a capoeira in other martial arts. The pumsay is more about a traditional taekwondo performance. It's like Taichi. Self-defence is basic defence against more general actions, instead of taekwondo kicks. Last lesson we put on sparring gear for the first time and practiced spacing. Since we always do no-contact or kick only pads, we are not used to actually kicking someone. First things we did were just lightly kicking, then dodging. The protective gear really doesn't do much. I think the person I was partnered up with was a black belt, so maybe that wa...

Posture

A couple of days ago, my mum took me to physiotherapy to get and assessment and advice on my posture. After assessing me, he said that my posture is bad, but fixable. He said that my right hip was elevated and that my right shoulder was drooped down. However, he said that I have good flexibility, and with constant effort and a little bit of exercise, fixing would not be that hard. So from now on, I have to constantly correct myself when I catch myself with bad posture. He said to stand/sit as if there was a string pulling my head up. I also have to go swimming two times a week, and after June, I have to go to the gym and start working out. Constantly sitting properly and standing properly is really tiring sometimes, but I understand that I should constantly do it. As for the swimming and working out, I don't mind going and doing that. Again, really tiring and bothersome, but still I understand that I need to and should do it. Swimming is good exercise for this, since you can...

Starting the blog

This blog is a place for me to write down my thoughts and opinions for the purpose of practicing English and keeping a record of myself. There are multiple reasons why a blog was chosen instead of something like a diary. First, Having a public blog such as Blogger is a decent way to receive feedback about how I am writing and about the subject of the blog. Second, having a record of such thoughts and opinions as an aspiring IT engineer is valuable. Third, it is easier and faster to type than write. There are certain conditions for me to write this blog. If in term 1 of school, I get an 85% or higher in the English test, I don't have to continue writing this blog. However, if I get under 85% in the term 2 test or get under an A (for English) in the semester report, I have to continue writing on this blog indefinitely. It goes without saying, that if I get higher than 85% in the term 2 test and get an A in the school report, I do not have to continue writing on this blog. Of co...
