So I wrote the draft for my english thing, and the story changed pretty drastically. The main character is now someone who tests one of the unmodded people to see if they are worth saving, and so he goes and finds this child and makes him fight this modded woman. After the child bests the woman, he goes up and sets off an EMP to screw over the modifications. I named the main character Eleos, after the roman or greek god of mercy, pity and compassion. Pretty fitting for the guy. I have a pretty busy schedule from now. Today I have tkd, tomorrow I have physio and then training with harry afterwards and on sunday I have to do my maths assignment. I haven't even been playing any games recently, so it doesn't really matter, but I still don't wanna do work. I had to take photos today, for school card and stuff. It took up the time for Japanese, which is unlucky, because I would've liked it better if it took out either English or IPT. So we took photos which took the whole...

So there's a game called Subnautica, and it is one of the best exploration/story games I've played. It's about crash landing on an alien planet that is almost fully ocean, and trying to survive and escape. What's really good about this game is the immersion. You jump into the ocean, surround by fish, in a biome/environment never seen before. There are fish and predator fish, new colours and stuff. In the beginning it's quite scary, not because the game makes it scary, but because its super realistic and immersive. Big ocean, you can't see farther then a couple meters, you have no idea what's out there. It's like being in a real ocean. Later on, you encounter predators and big fish and start to get used to the theme. There's a lot of biomes in the game, and all of them look really, really nice. There's one that stands out called something like the blood vine biome, and there's roots that go from the ocean bed up, covered with red patches of...

I had math for first and second period, so I just stayed in class for recess, so I had a full 3 hours straight of math. I've said this before, but since we have a new book, there's a lot of mistakes and such. Today, we realized that the advanced book that we have has questions on the level of extension 2. So that means that the questions are ridiculously hard for our level. And if the advanced book is that hard, how hard is the extension 1 book going to be? I have to write my short story draft by Friday, so I'm going to start it now. For now, I've got the setting and the character, but I need to create a conflict and event. Since it's only around 500 words, I can only really make 1 event happen. So the setting is a cyberpunk world where society is split up into people who have physical modifications, referred to as 'modded' and people who can't afford them, 'unmodded'(for now). There's discrimination against the unmodded, and the main char...

So my left hip has been hurting whenever I try to do a kick while shifting my weight onto it. After asking the instructor and my mum, I did some stretches and now It doesn't hurt as much, but I'm not sure if it's fully all right yet. I keep getting these pimples in the back of my head, and it really hurts whenever I rest my head on my pillow, so sleeping is somewhat painful. Thankfully, I haven't been fatigued too much to the point to affect my schoolwork. I keep listening to classical music, mainly piano, and keep thinking that I want to play piano, but I can't be bothered to learn it or "waste" my time when I could be playing games and such. Actually, recently, I haven't even being playing games, I now just listen to music and mindlessly browse the same three websites again and again. Maybe this is something similar to a computer addiction, maybe I'm just bored. I guess I'll try to learn piano whenever I'm not actually doing anything ...

The league tournament that I went into last Saturday was very disappointing but also to be expected. We got knocked out on the first game. I did fine, I think, but bot lane died a lot and that was probably the downfall of the game. I thought for math that we were gonna go from chapter 2 to chapter 3, but apparently we're skipping to chapter 6. Chapter 3 was algebra and chapter 6 is further trigonometry. I really wanted to do the algebra chapter. I really, really don't like geometry. In english, we're working on the voice of the character now, and are going to start writing the first draft of the story for our assignment. I think I've got a good idea for the story, or at least the setting, but I need to fully define the character and the conflict. In SDD we're doing theory and some metalanguage to explain the syntax of a programming language. It's not too hard, but I really want to stop doing theory and get a task or whatever.

I'm entering a league of legends tournament tomorrow afternoon with a couple of my friends, so I'm gonna start practicing with my teammates today. I very much doubt that we're going to win or even come close to winning, but whatever, I just wanna see how a tournament works. The martial arts thing on Saturday was cancelled for this, because of the tournament, but a friend of mine said that he would come every other week to the thing, so we made a deal and cancelled it for this week. Currently in English, we're doing story writing, which is easily my favorite topic in English. Right now we're doing the creation of a character, so using unfamiliar words to describe our character and to give character uniqueness so the story doesn't seem boring. So far for my story, I've got a cyberpunk world where society is divided into two, those with physical modifications and those without. The ones without modifications are discriminated against, even by the law. I t...

After swimming we went to grab food at castle towers, and went to this place called the Taste of Shang hai. The food wasn't that bad, but I was really expecting more. The fried rice said it was "special spicy", but there was no taste of spice whatsoever. Wasn't very spicy, but it didn't taste bad either. The one thing that ticked me off is that there were two Chinese families next to us, and they had a child each. If it was just a child eating food, I would have been fine. However, they were both watching some kids show on their mobiles and it was really loud. One child, was just basically watching it and watching it only. The parents were just serving food to them like they were some gods or something and the child literally looked as if being hypnotized by the phone. I really disapprove of that way of parenting. After not being able to do butterfly on the first week of swimming, I can finally do butterfly again. I say that I can do it, but really I can't...

The math book that we have for mathematics advanced is very bad and weird. There's a lot of mistakes, there's a lot of sentenced that don't make sense, the answers are wrong quite a bit of the time, and the difficulty of the questions keep jumping up and down. For example, the questions on trigonometry that I did today was apparently hard extension 1 level, while the chapters that we did before were like year 6 level algebra. I really doubt my class can handle this level of math. It's only 4 weeks into the term and people are already behind by 5 chapters or something, and when they reach what we're up to now they're gonna struggle even more. The math assignment that we got for this term is really stupid. Instead of sitting a test that will tests us about our abilities in a timed environment, we get 3 weeks to go on google maps and find a piece of land, figure out the area and something like how many lights are needed if we are going to place one every 30 met...

Forgot to write on the blog yesterday because I just slept for 3 hours after I got home, then went to taekwondo straight after. Yesterday in IPT we learned how binary works, and it's not too hard. Just like how our normal number system works with base 10, binary just works with base 2. Same with Hexadecimals, but with base 16. Of course, I wouldn't be able to immediately convert base 10 to base 2 and base 6, but with pen and paper, and maybe not with binary, I can easily convert it. On Saturday, I'm planning to go to a park with a couple of my friends just to exercise and train martial arts. It's being hosted by a friend that introduced me to taekwondo, and we have people who do other martial arts. For example, I do taekwondo, someone else does boxing, someone else does wing chun(kung fu) and another's just here for exercise. It lasts an hour, and we'll do a mix of stuff. After going there for a while, I'm thinking if I can run there as a warm up and b...

Taekwondo, compared to other martial arts. is basically a sport more than a martial art. It is inferior in many ways, one of them being: compared to wing chun, which is kung fu, tkd bloacks an attack and then attacks back. In wing chun, you attack back while blocking. Another is that, at least on my level, mostly everything I've learnt so far is countered by just getting close and clinching. Since it is a kick, I need space to be able to chamber it and to actually kick. While I do learn self-defense at tkd, it's not strictly tkd. Honestly, I started tkd to get into to the habit of going to some place with random people to do exercise and stuff. After getting black belt, I was going to quit and go do some other martial art, like jiu jitsu. I was gonna continue this for like 3 or 4 martial arts and then maybe stop. I've learnt all the hiragana for Japanese, so we're actually starting to learn the language. While we still need to learn katakana, I think we'll learn...

I've been super tired recently, and I don't know why. I've been getting enough sleep, doing more exercise and not doing a lot more work or anything. It hasn't really affect my school life much, but I've just been super tired and not motivated to play competitive games. Mostly I've just been playing calm slow games like Hearthstone and sleeping pretty early. At lunch today a subgroup of ours joined us to play a big game of mafia. Mafia is basically a game where there are 2 parties, the mafia and the town. The mafia try to kill everyone other then themselves, the town tries to kill the mafia. Everyone sits around in a circle, get their roles, and the game starts. There is a cycle to the game. There's day, where the discussion takes place and lynching/hanging to try to kill the mafia. Then there's night, where the mafia kills, detective tries to look for mafia, and the nurse/doctor heals people. When day comes the mod(game master) explains what happened a...

I only really had 1 period today. I only have 2 periods on Thursdays, but year 11 and year 12 had a high achiever's assembly for last year's year 12 who did really well on the HSC. There was this one guy who was top of the school with an ATAR of 99.60. There was also this one guy who had 12 units in the HSC, and got band 6 and above for all of them. Pretty impressive, given how you only need to do 10 units, and because getting band 6 is hard as is. So, after that and philosophy, I get picked up and go swimming, come back and here I am. My elbow is getting better and feels a lot better than yesterday, but it still hurts a bit, so I think I'll keep it on up to tomorrow at least. Before we used tape to hold it in place, but seeing how that was ineffective, we used pins this time, and it works like a charm. In SDD, since the teacher has to help those who haven't programmed before, the people who already know the basics of programming don't have much to do, so he mad...

Contact sparring 13/02/19

So yesterday at taekwondo we put on protective gear and did contact sparring. Contact sparring, since you're allowed to actually hit the other person, is actually a little different to no contact sparring. In no contact sparring its a lot slower, because you have to try not to hit the other person while also trying to be able to get a hit in. In contact sparring, just hit them.  While it's a lot better than no contact, I'm still a complete amateur. On hindsight, the problem is that just a normal kick isn't going to do much. Everyone's expecting a kick to come in, so a single kick that's to be expected is just going to get blocked and countered. So what you have to do is mix it up a bit. You combo kicks, like climbing kick or tornado, or you just try to throw them off.  When we were doing contact sparring, I ended up blocking a kick with my elbow, and that was kind of bad. Right now I've got a bandage around my elbow, since it hurts whenever I flex it ...

We had our Japanese for the first time in a while teacher after she went to the year 7 camp, and so we got back to the normal lessons. We were expected to learn all the hiragana and their mechanics, but I wasn't able to remember all of them. There's this one weird thing about it that I still don't understand. It has to do with ya, yu and yo. If they are written smaller, it somehow affects the character before it. I think what it does is that it keeps the previous character's consonant, but replaces the vowel with that character. Anyway, the teacher said that she won't use romaji anymore, and that she will only use hiragana from now on.  When she asked us to read out a couple of words, I tried my best to read the hiragana, and I can, but it just takes quite a bit. However, since I knew that word already, I just read it out and no problems there.  Japanese is quite simple for me, as the confusing parts of the language are part of the Korean language, so all...

Skipping swimming carnival 11/02/19

On Wednesday we have the swimming carnival, so I'm just going to stay home for that. I don't do anything when I go there anyway so I'd rather just stay home. As a compromise, my parents are taking me to swimming instead, for my physiotherapy. The last couple of years, all we did at any carnival we went to was just bring a bunch of food and board games and just find a corner and spend the whole day there. Only last year it was a little different, where I had to punch in info for the PE teacher. All it was was I recorded the race data and put it into this program for zone. I don't think I participated in a swimming carnival race since starting high school. I went into a race in around year 5 for primary school but that was about it. I wasn't even that good at swimming then, but I did it because all the teachers pressured you into doing it. However, I have taken part in the cross country that you have to do for sport in the first term from year 7 to 10. In year 10,...

Philosophy topic 8/02/19

In philosophy we were given a prompt to discuss. The prompt was a story about how people who are in a state of poverty lost their cat to a car accident and ended up eating the cat to fill their stomachs. In our pair discussion, I was talking about how in a situation such as do or die, moral and ethics are completely disregarded. The other groups were talking about how its immoral to eat a cat, which lead to the discussion of what defines that an animal is morally right to eat. I said that people see eating certain animals as immoral is only because that animal has some sort of other value that is greater than just being food, such as cats and dogs with their companionship, whereas a chicken's companionship is not what's primarily valued by humans. A friend of mine said that it is immoral and a waste to kill an animal that is useful for something else other than food, such as, as mentioned, cats for their companionship, horses for mobility and such. One of the girls talked a...

Narrating

So a couple of days ago my friends told me that I should narrate books and such because of my voice. There are a couple of websites such as audible that sell narration of books, and I did consider it for a bit. I read my friends a couple of excerpts from different books and they said a lot of the books I read out didn't fit my voice, but something like a documentary might workout. The books I read them were all from female perspectives, though. I read them Divergent, Skulduggery Pleasant and To Kill a Mockingbird. Maybe if I tried a male perspective book, it might go better. I looked into audible, and if I wanted to, I can send them a 2-minute video of me narrating a book, with the country and state I live in, for them to analyse and see. I'm considering doing it, but I'm probably just gonna leave it until I really have nothing to do. If I was able to get a "job" for voice acting, I'd probably play it out and see what I can do with it. If I can make money...

Australian weather

Some days, the weather can get ridiculous. Most of the time in summer, it's boiling hot and stays around 30 degrees with the sun almost cooking your skin. Just staying in the sun hurts because of how hot it is. Then sometimes, there's weather where it's boiling hot in the morning than it pours rain in the afternoon and becomes boiling hot again after like an hour. All this might be because of climate change and the broken ozone layer and everything but I don't really care about that. What I do care about is how uncomfortable it is when the weather gets this extreme, and when it constantly changes. Today was a hot day as usual, but wasn't so extreme today. It's just the sun that's really hot right now, being in the shade is quite cool with the breeze. One more thing I don't like about AUS weather, is that there isn't really a middle ground for it. It's either super super hot, regardless of season, or super super cold. Around 2 years ago, the...

Philosophy

I've only had one lesson on philosophy, as it's a one unit and has less hours to complete, but it's actually quite similar to this blog thing. The difference is that we look at old philosophers and also talk about their theories and thoughts. At least that's what happened last lesson.  I think we do more wide topics, because we did something like "is it ever okay to kill?" or something last lesson. Most of the class said yes, for reasons of self defense and special cases if someone is terminally bed-ridden. The point of philosophy is to think. I haven't been able to do much so far because the prompts aren't that specific, deep or good, but I have high hopes for the upcoming lessons. One thing I don't want from philosophy is a lot of homework. We already got some homework from the first lesson, and it wasn't that hard, but it was a pain to get started at home. It took like ~5 mins but the fact that I had to remember that I have homework w...

4/02/19

Whenever I don't know what to write about, I'm just going to name the title the date and then talk about anything that happened recently.  On Saturday I got a haircut, where it was discovered that I had more bald spots and something like a pimple growing on the back of my head. When I tried to go to sleep that night, I was really uncomfortable, as the pimple was being pressed into the pillow and hurting really badly.  Last week, we had a new student come to our school, and it was one of my primary school classmates. He was an ass to me back then, but I'm not so sure if he still is, so I won't say I hate him, but I've been steering away from him, which I don't even know if I need to, as I don't think he remembers me.  I've had two English lessons so far, and it doesn't seem much different from what we did last year. The first assessment will be a creative writing task, which I'm quite happy about, as I'm much better at creative writ...
